电影讲述了一对夫妻罗宇（肖央 饰）与白慧（宋佳 饰）在离婚冷静期中，以律师和医生的身份卷入一桩失独老人（倪大红 饰）的胚胎归属权纠纷案件。随着离婚冷静期结束时间越来越近，两人在此期间也慢慢地对自己、对婚姻、对家庭有了新的认知。
